Summary
This study aimed to find out how often a serious fungal lung infection occurs in critically ill patients on breathing machines who develop suspected pneumonia. Researchers tested fluid from the lungs of 263 adult ICU patients to check for the fungus. The goal was to gather better information to help doctors understand and eventually treat these dangerous infections.
