First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looks at whether cleaning the mouth of very premature babies more often (every 3-4 hours vs every 12 hours) can reduce harmful bacteria and lower the risk of lung infections and other breathing problems. About 40 babies born before 32 weeks and weighing less than 1500 grams will take part. Researchers will collect saliva and breathing samples to compare outcomes between the two groups.
