First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study is adapting and testing a French version of the Athletic Disordered Eating (ADE) scale, a 17-question screening tool designed specifically for athletes. Researchers will enroll 229 athletes aged 15 to 70 who exercise more than 6 hours per week. Participants complete the French ADE scale along with a standard eating attitudes test to see how well the new tool identifies those at risk for disordered eating.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If validated, the French ADE scale could provide a reliable tool for coaches and doctors to identify athletes at risk of eating disorders early.
- What could go wrong
- This is a validation study, not a treatment trial. The scale may not perform equally across all sports or age groups, and further research would be needed to confirm its usefulness.
