First seen Mar 08, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at 100 patients aged 80 and older who had major abdominal surgery to find out what factors best predict death within 30 days. Researchers focused on frailty (a measure of physical weakness) and physiological reserve (body's ability to handle stress) using simple lab tests and a frailty score. The goal is to help doctors better identify high-risk patients and improve care planning.
