New drug trial aims to help patients on ventilators breathe again

NCT ID NCT06564207

Summary

This study is testing whether adding the drug fostamatinib to standard hospital care helps adults with severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), a life-threatening lung condition. About 40 hospitalized patients on breathing machines will receive either the study drug or a placebo pill twice daily for two weeks. Researchers will primarily check if the drug is safe and will also look at whether it improves survival and helps patients recover from this serious illness.
