Can simple exercises fix your 'Text Neck'? new trial aims to find out

NCT ID NCT07337824

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares two types of exercise for forward head posture (often called 'text neck') in 74 university students aged 19-25. One group does standard neck-strengthening exercises, while the other uses a training approach that teaches the brain to control posture better using visual and sound cues. Both groups train three times a week for four weeks. Researchers will measure posture, neck strength, and whether symptoms come back after one month.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

exercise (deep neck flexor strengthening and motor learning-based neuroplasticity training)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a more effective exercise program for improving posture and reducing symptom recurrence in young adults with forward head posture.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 74 participants, all university students aged 19-25, so results may not apply to older adults or those with more severe conditions. The interventions are short-term (4 weeks), and long-term benefits are unknown.
