Flat feet fix? simple foot release may boost movement quality
NCT ID NCT07664332
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a manual foot massage (plantar fascia release) to standard foot exercises can immediately improve movement quality in young adults with flat feet. Twenty-nine physically active participants aged 18-35 will try both exercise-only and exercise-plus-massage sessions, with their movement scores compared right after each session. The goal is to see if the massage gives an extra boost to balance and squat performance.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Plantar fascia myofascial release (manual therapy) plus foot core exercises and stretching
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug way to improve movement quality and reduce injury risk in people with flat feet.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early study (29 people) looking only at immediate effects, not long-term benefits. The results may not apply to everyone with flat feet.
