Cash for groceries: can money and coaching fight heart disease?
NCT ID NCT06818669
Summary
This study tests whether providing monthly cash assistance, weekly grocery incentives, and phone-based heart health education can reduce the risk of heart disease in African American adults who struggle to afford enough food. Researchers will follow 200 participants for one year to see if this combined approach lowers their calculated 10-year heart disease risk and improves their quality of life compared to receiving education alone. The goal is to find a practical, cost-effective way to help manage heart disease risk in a vulnerable population.
