Balloon method may simplify Second-Trimester abortion procedure

This study compares using a Foley balloon plus misoprostol versus standard osmotic dilators (Laminaria) to prepare the cervix before a second-trimester surgical abortion (16-21 weeks). About 102 women will take part to see if the balloon method is just as effective and leads to similar procedure times. The research also measures patient and provider satisfaction with each approach.
