First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares using a Foley balloon plus misoprostol versus standard osmotic dilators (Laminaria) to prepare the cervix before a second-trimester surgical abortion (16-21 weeks). About 102 women in Mozambique will take part. The goal is to see if the balloon method works just as well, is faster, and is more satisfying for both patients and providers.
