Scientists probe Gut's reaction to problem foods
NCT ID NCT06488534
Summary
This study aims to understand how certain hard-to-digest foods (FODMAPs) directly affect the colon's movements and cause symptoms in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Researchers placed a measuring tube in the colons of 15 healthy volunteers during three separate procedures to record pressure changes after FODMAPs were introduced. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about the gut's response to these foods, which may help explain IBS symptoms like cramps and bloating in the future.
