Sound waves target brain to ease Parkinson's shakes
NCT ID NCT03454425
Summary
This study tested whether a non-surgical, focused ultrasound procedure could safely reduce movement problems like tremor and stiffness on one side of the body in people with Parkinson's disease. 36 participants were randomly assigned to receive either the real ultrasound treatment or a sham (fake) procedure, and neither they nor the doctors assessing them knew which they got. The main goal was to see if the treatment improved specific movement scores after 4 months compared to the sham group.
