Sound waves target Parkinson's brain without surgery

NCT ID NCT03454425

Summary

This study tested whether focused ultrasound could safely reduce Parkinson's disease motor symptoms like tremor and stiffness. Thirty-six participants with one-sided symptoms were randomly assigned to receive either the real ultrasound treatment or a sham procedure. Researchers compared changes in movement symptoms over four months to see if the treatment worked better than the placebo.
