First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) can help treat delirium in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Delirium is a common and serious confusion that affects up to 80% of ICU patients and can lead to long-term brain problems. The researchers will give FMT to 60 adults with delirium and track how many days they are free of confusion, aiming to see if restoring gut bacteria can improve brain function.
