NCT ID NCT06692361
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tests whether fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) — transferring gut bacteria from a healthy donor — can help adults with major depression who don't get better soon after starting antidepressants. About 214 participants will receive either FMT or a placebo, and researchers will check if depression symptoms improve after 4 weeks. The goal is to see if changing gut bacteria can ease depression when standard treatments fall short.
