Glowing dye lights the way for safer gallbladder surgery

NCT ID NCT02702843

Summary

This study tested a new imaging technique to help surgeons see bile ducts more clearly during gallbladder removal surgery. Researchers compared a special fluorescent dye and camera to standard surgical lighting in 677 patients. The goal was to see if the glowing dye made it easier to identify important structures, potentially reducing the risk of accidental injury during the operation.
