New IV fluid tested to stabilize critically ill surgery patients

NCT ID NCT07172451

Summary

This study is comparing two types of IV fluids given during and after emergency abdominal surgery in adults with sepsis, a life-threatening infection. The goal is to see if a fluid called 'balanced gelatin' helps patients maintain better blood pressure and fluid balance than the standard fluid in the first 24 hours after surgery. Researchers will also track recovery, organ function, and survival for 90 days to see which fluid leads to better outcomes.
