New stent shows promise for brain aneurysm treatment
NCT ID NCT05774782
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested a flow diverter stent in 143 people with wide-necked brain aneurysms that had not ruptured. The stent is placed inside the artery to redirect blood flow away from the aneurysm, helping it close off. The main goals were to see if the aneurysm was fully blocked at one year without major narrowing of the artery or the need for further treatment, and to check for serious strokes or death. The approach aims to control the aneurysm and prevent rupture, but does not cure the underlying condition.
