Dissolving heart scaffold could replace metal stents in major trial

NCT ID NCT07022587

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study compares a new type of heart scaffold that dissolves over time (Firesorb) with a standard metal stent for treating blocked arteries. The scaffold is designed to provide temporary support and then disappear, potentially reducing long-term risks. About 2,000 people with coronary artery disease will be randomly assigned to receive either the scaffold or the stent, and researchers will track heart-related events over time.
