New therapy aims to help anxious service members lock up their guns
NCT ID NCT05818696
Summary
This study is testing whether adding a brief online therapy for fear of the unknown makes standard firearm safety counseling more effective for military members. It aims to see if reducing this specific anxiety helps people feel safer storing their firearms locked and unloaded, which is a key strategy for suicide prevention. The study involves 100 active-duty or recently discharged service members who own firearms and score high on a measure of intolerance for uncertainty.
