First seen Mar 13, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving financial rewards based on a blood test can help people with alcohol-related liver disease stop or reduce drinking. The blood test detects alcohol use over the past month. Participants are randomly assigned to either a rewards group that gets escalating payments for reduced drinking or a monitoring group that gets fixed payments. The study will see if the rewards program improves abstinence at 12 and 24 weeks.
