Cash for cuddles: can money help moms bond with their fragile preemies?

NCT ID NCT06362798

Summary

This study is testing if giving weekly cash payments to low-income mothers helps them spend more time with their premature babies in the hospital's intensive care unit (NICU). Researchers want to see if this financial support reduces stress and allows mothers to provide more breast milk and skin-to-skin care, which are vital for their baby's health and development. The study will follow 420 mothers across four hospitals to compare those who receive the payments with those who receive standard care.
