Could a simple fiber pill ease COPD symptoms? scientists investigate Gut-Lung link

NCT ID NCT04459156

Summary

This study aimed to understand how a fiber supplement called inulin affects substances produced by gut bacteria in people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Researchers compared 87 participants, including COPD patients and healthy adults, to see if fiber changed these gut products and if that was linked to inflammation, muscle strength, or thinking skills. The goal was to gather knowledge about the connection between gut health and lung disease, not to test a treatment.
