Shocking the way back: FES-cycling tested for stroke recovery

NCT ID NCT06230796

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether adding mild electrical pulses to leg muscles during stationary cycling helps people with stroke-related leg weakness improve their heart fitness and walking ability. Thirty adults who had a stroke within the past year will cycle three times a week for eight weeks, either with real or fake stimulation. Researchers will measure oxygen use and walking speed to see if the electrical boost makes a difference.
