New MRI dye could spot hidden prostate cancer spread
NCT ID NCT04261777
First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special MRI contrast agent called Ferumoxtran-10 (Ferrotran®) can better find prostate cancer that has spread to lymph nodes compared to standard MRI. About 172 men with newly-diagnosed prostate cancer at medium to high risk of spread received an enhanced MRI before surgery to remove the prostate. The results were checked against tissue removed during surgery to see how accurate the scan was.
