Common cholesterol pill may shield diabetic eyes from blindness

NCT ID NCT01320345

Summary

This study is testing whether a daily cholesterol-lowering pill called fenofibrate can slow down or prevent eye damage in adults with Type 1 diabetes. It involves about 450 participants who already have early signs of diabetic eye disease. The goal is to see if taking the pill for about three years reduces the need for eye surgeries and helps preserve vision.
