Common drug may shield cancer patients from Chemo's agonizing nerve damage

NCT ID NCT07025005

Summary

This study is testing if fenofibrate, a drug usually used for high cholesterol, can help prevent or reduce nerve pain (peripheral neuropathy) caused by a standard chemotherapy combination for multiple myeloma. It will involve 44 newly diagnosed patients, with half receiving the standard chemo and half receiving the chemo plus fenofibrate. Researchers will measure nerve pain levels and specific blood markers to see if the added drug makes a difference.
