New needle angle may ease tourniquet pain in leg surgery
NCT ID NCT07548567
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new ultrasound-guided injection near the femoral artery to reduce pain and high blood pressure caused by tourniquets during below-the-knee fracture surgery. About 84 adults will be randomly assigned to receive the new long-axis approach, the standard short-axis approach, or a placebo. The goal is to see if the new method better prevents dangerous blood pressure spikes and reduces the need for extra pain medication.
