First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This trial tests FemBloc, a device placed into the fallopian tubes through the vagina to block them permanently, without surgery. About 573 women aged 21-50 who want permanent birth control will be followed for up to 5 years to see how well it prevents pregnancy. The main goal is to measure the pregnancy rate after one year.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer women a non-surgical, permanent birth control option that avoids incisions and recovery time.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage, single-arm trial without a comparison group. The device may fail to block the tubes, leading to pregnancy, or cause side effects like pain or infection.
