NCT ID NCT06118697

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a new therapy for infants in the NICU who have trouble feeding and may need a feeding tube long-term. The therapy uses a thin tube to gently stimulate the throat and esophagus, helping babies practice swallowing. Over 4 weeks, 40 infants will receive weekly stimulation sessions along with oral feeding practice and parent training. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and can help babies eat by mouth, reducing the need for tube feeding.
