Poop transplants tested to calm ICU brain fog

NCT ID NCT07348471

Summary

This study is testing whether a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) can help treat delirium in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). Researchers will give 60 ICU patients with delirium either the FMT treatment or standard care to see if restoring healthy gut bacteria can reduce confusion, shorten hospital stays, and improve survival. The goal is to see if fixing gut health can help calm brain inflammation and improve recovery.
