A new program aims to ease cancer survivors' fear of recurrence
NCT ID NCT06181344
First seen Aug 31, 2026 · Last updated Sep 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests a program that screens cancer survivors for fear of recurrence and refers those who need help to psychological services. The program is being rolled out in cancer clinics in Hong Kong, with nurses trained to identify at-risk patients. Researchers will measure how many patients get screened and referred, and whether they accept the services. The goal is to see if this approach can be integrated into routine cancer care to support survivors' emotional well-being.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- A behavioral program that screens cancer survivors for fear of recurrence and refers those in need to specialized psychological services
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this program could become a standard part of cancer follow-up care, helping survivors cope with anxiety and improve their quality of life.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is early and focuses on implementation, so it may not show clear benefits. Success depends on how well clinics adopt the program, and results may not apply to all cancer types.
