Turning a cancer scan tracer into a potential Tumor-Killing treatment

NCT ID NCT02130492

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a very high dose of a radioactive sugar molecule (FDG), commonly used in PET scans to find cancer, can be used to treat it. The trial is for adults with advanced cancer that has spread and is no longer responding to standard treatments. Researchers aim to see if the cancer cells, which absorb a lot of this sugar, can be killed by the radiation it delivers, while being safe for the patient.
