NCT ID NCT07500831
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding a 5-day fasting-mimicking diet (low-calorie, low-protein) to the usual combination of toripalimab (an immunotherapy) and axitinib (a targeted drug) can help people with advanced kidney cancer. The trial will enroll 43 adults who have not had prior treatment. Researchers will monitor side effects and measure how well the cancer responds.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Fasting-mimicking diet, toripalimab, and axitinib
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a way to boost the effectiveness of standard kidney cancer treatments using a short-term diet.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early, small study with only 43 people and no comparison group. The diet is restrictive and may be hard to follow, and the combination could cause side effects.
