New heart zapping technique shows promise for persistent AFib

Summary
This study tested a new device called FARAPULSE that uses electrical pulses to treat a type of irregular heartbeat called persistent atrial fibrillation. 669 people with symptoms that didn't improve with medication took part. The goal was to see if the procedure is safe and works well to restore normal heart rhythm for at least a year.
