Cancer centers test family therapy to ease grief before and after death

NCT ID NCT00580515

Summary

This study tested whether family therapy sessions could help families communicate and support each other better when a loved one has advanced cancer, both during treatment and after death. Researchers compared standard care to 6 or 10 therapy sessions to see which approach best prevented severe grief and depression in family members. The goal was to find the most helpful amount of support for families facing serious illness and loss.
