Family touch and talk may ease PTSD in caregivers of brain injury patients

NCT ID NCT07456384

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a structured program where relatives provide sight, sound, touch, and smell stimulation to brain-injured ICU patients can reduce post-traumatic stress in those relatives. 200 family members will be trained and supervised to deliver the stimulation during visits. The main goal is to see if fewer relatives have severe PTSD symptoms 3 months after the ICU stay.
