Family alert system could prevent diabetes emergencies

NCT ID NCT06114186

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether a team-based approach could help adults with type 1 diabetes who are at high risk for a dangerous complication called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Researchers had participants share their real-time glucose data with a chosen family member or friend (a 'Follower') and provided personalized education to both. The goal was to see if this support system reduced the amount of time people spent with severely high blood sugar, which is a key risk factor for DKA.
