High-Tech showdown: can radar or contact mats stop delirious patients from falling?
NCT ID NCT05391334
First seen May 20, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two different technologies—pressure-sensitive contact mats and a contactless radar device—to see which one better alerts staff when older patients with delirium try to get out of bed unsupervised. The goal was to reduce falls and injuries. Researchers tracked 170 patients in a special hospital unit and compared the number of falls and bed-exit patterns detected by each system.
