New tracer could light up hidden infections on scans

NCT ID NCT04263792

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This early-phase study is testing a radioactive tracer called F-TMP to see if it can help find bacterial infections in the body using PET/CT scans. About 20 adults with known or suspected infections will receive the tracer and then be scanned. The goal is to understand how the tracer spreads and behaves in the body, and whether it can tell infected from healthy tissue.
