Can eye exercises tame migraines? new trial investigates

NCT ID NCT07254598

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding gentle eye muscle techniques to standard neck and jaw manual therapy can reduce pain and disability in people with migraine without aura. Eighty-four adults aged 18–65 will receive six physiotherapy sessions over eight weeks. Half will get the combined therapy; the other half will get manual therapy alone. Researchers will measure changes in pain, quality of life, and disability.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
myotensive extraocular muscle techniques and manual therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a safe, non-drug way to reduce migraine pain and disability by combining eye muscle therapy with manual therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no blinding, so results may be influenced by placebo. The extra eye muscle techniques may not add benefit over manual therapy alone.
