Scientists investigate how the brain compensates for inner ear damage

NCT ID NCT04268615

Summary

This study aimed to understand how people with severe inner ear damage use very fast eye movements to keep their vision stable when moving their heads. Researchers compared 12 patients with this balance disorder to 12 healthy volunteers, measuring the timing and characteristics of these automatic eye movements. The goal was to learn how the brain compensates when the inner ear's balance system fails, which could inform future rehabilitation approaches.
