Summary

This study tests a new augmented reality tool that shares an expert surgeon's eye gaze with trainees during kidney stone surgery. The goal is to help novice surgeons learn to fully explore the kidney, reducing leftover stone fragments that often cause repeat surgeries. About 110 participants—surgeons and patients—will take part at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The tool uses a head-mounted display to guide trainees in real time.
