Exergaming and mediterranean diet tested for thyroid cancer recovery

NCT ID NCT05265819

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at whether playing active video games (exergaming) and following a Mediterranean diet could help people who had their thyroid removed due to cancer. 80 adults were split into four groups: one did exergaming, one followed the diet, one did both, and one had no extra intervention. The goal was to see if these lifestyle changes could improve immune markers and hormone levels over 12 weeks.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

exergaming (Xbox 360 Kinect) and Mediterranean diet

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a way to improve immune function and quality of life for thyroid cancer survivors after surgery.

What could go wrong

This is a small, completed trial with no phase, so results may not be generalizable. The outcomes are immune markers, not direct health improvements, and the diet and exercise may not show significant benefits.
