NCT ID NCT06716931

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a physical therapist-guided exercise program can improve strength and walking ability in adults with myotonic dystrophy type 2 (DM2). Twenty-four participants will be split into three groups, each doing the same exercises but with different levels of therapist supervision. The goal is to see if guided exercise helps more than doing it alone.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

physical therapist-guided exercise program

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a safe, home-based exercise routine to help people with DM2 maintain strength and walking ability.

What could go wrong

This is a small early study with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise may not improve muscle function significantly.
