First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether different hand exercises—using both hands, just fingers, or virtual reality games—can improve thinking and memory in people with mild cognitive impairment. 106 adults aged 50-75 will do 40-minute sessions three times a week for 8 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in cognitive tests like the Montreal Cognitive Assessment.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward simple, non-drug exercises that help maintain or improve memory and thinking skills in people with mild cognitive impairment.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study (106 people) comparing different types of exercise. Results may not apply to everyone, and the improvements might be modest or temporary.
