Exercise program aims to keep HIV patients over 50 on their feet
NCT ID NCT06139497
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a 48-week exercise program can improve physical function and reduce disability in HIV-positive adults over 50 in Côte d'Ivoire. 180 participants will be split into three groups: supervised group exercise, home-based exercise with phone support, or health education only. The main goal is to see if exercise helps them perform better on a step-up test after 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance

What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that structured exercise helps older HIV patients stay mobile and independent.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study (180 people) with no blinding, so results may not be generalizable. Participants may struggle to stick with the home-based program.
