NCT ID NCT04397159
First seen Apr 18, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of flywheel resistance and aerobic exercise can reduce fatigue and improve muscle function in veterans with chronic kidney disease who are not yet on dialysis. Thirty participants will undergo exercise training, and researchers will measure changes in muscle strength, blood flow, and perceived exhaustion. The goal is to find a safe, effective way to help patients stay active and delay functional decline.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
flywheel resistance plus aerobic exercise
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program to help people with chronic kidney disease feel less tired and move better.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Exercise programs can be hard to stick with, and benefits may vary.
Conditions
