First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a structured exercise program to standard antidepressant treatment can improve symptoms of major depression. Researchers will also use brain scans and blood tests to understand how exercise might reduce inflammation and change brain activity. About 124 adults with moderate to severe depression will take part, with one group doing exercise and the other continuing their usual care.
