Scientists probe how exercise might help rare muscle disease
NCT ID NCT07450690
Summary
This study aims to understand how exercise training affects the muscles and nerves of adults with mitochondrial myopathy, a rare disease that causes muscle weakness and fatigue. Researchers will have 22 participants (some with the disease, some healthy) complete a 3-4 week exercise program using only one leg. By comparing muscle samples from the exercised and non-exercised leg, they hope to learn how exercise changes the body's energy production and communication between muscles and nerves.
