Two-Pronged attack on knee pain and depression in older adults

NCT ID NCT04111627

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether combining a supervised aerobic exercise program with the antidepressant medication duloxetine could help older adults who have both painful knee osteoarthritis and depression. The goal was to see if this combined approach was practical to deliver and might improve both physical pain and mood symptoms. All 43 participants received the same treatment plan, which was first checked for feasibility before being tested.
